The Ghana Table Tennis Association, GTTA, staged a high-energy one-day clinic on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the DG Hathramani Hall, Accra Sports Stadium, as part of efforts to build a formidable national team for two major continental tournaments later this month.

The clinic brought together Under 15 and Under 19 boys and girls from across the country in what turned out to be a fiercely competitive selection exercise, capped with an all-play-all tryout.

The session forms part of GTTA’s broader selection process ahead of the Africa Youth Championships, July 20-27, 2026, and the African Youth Cup, July 28-29, 2026, both scheduled to be hosted at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Ghana.

With home advantage on the line, the association is leaving nothing to chance as it looks to assemble its strongest U15 and U19 squads.

Charles Tachie-Menson Jnr, GTTA Technical Director,

“GTTA has done very well by organising these clinics. Last week, we obviously organised Under 12 and today we’ve organised Under 15 and 19. It went very well,” he said.

“It is my belief that at the end of the day, we will make the best selection for Ghana. And then we believe sincerely that table tennis is on the rise.”

He also extended appreciation to GTTA President Mawuko Afadzinu and the media for their role in growing the sport.

“I want to say thank you to the President, Mawuko Afadzinu, and also you, the media. You’ve done so well for us and we are very, very grateful for that.”

With the Africa Youth Championships and African Youth Cup just weeks away at Borteyman, GTTA is expected to announce its final squads following further assessments.
