Ghana’s technical team has confirmed the squad numbers for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with captain Jordan Ayew retaining his iconic number 9 shirt and Almería goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi handed the number 1 jersey.

The Ghana Football Association released the numbers on Tuesday as preparations for the tournament in North America intensify.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi will wear the number 1 jersey, reaffirming his status as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper. He will be deputised by St Patrick’s Athletic’s Joseph Anang in number 12, with Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare taking number 16.
Up front, captain Jordan Ayew keeps his favoured number 9 shirt. Brandon Thomas-Asante has been handed the number 10, while Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo will wear number 11 for Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey sticks to his traditional number 5. In midfield and defence, Gideon Mensah will wear 14, Kwasi Sibo 8, Caleb Yirenkyi 3 and veteran Baba Abdul Rahman 17.
Cyprus-based defender Derrick Luckassen, called up as a replacement for the injured Alexander Djiku, will wear number 23.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L and will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field in Toronto. Ghana’s second group match will be against England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium in Boston, before they round off the group stage against Croatia on June 27 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Carlos Queiroz’s side will be hoping to improve on their Round of 16 finish at Qatar 2022 when the expanded 48-team tournament kicks off next summer.
