Ghana’s national badminton team has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, for the 9th edition of the Lagos International Badminton Classics.
Africa’s biggest badminton tournament serves off today, Wednesday, August 26, and will run until August 29, 2026.
The annual championship attracts top shuttlers from around the world who compete in Singles, Doubles and Mixed events for world ranking points and prize money. Over the years, it has grown to draw hundreds of players from several countries.
Ghana’s Contingent: Headlining Team Ghana’s campaign are five players in the Men’s Singles: Ofori-Acheampong Brempong, Abdul-Samad Ahmad, Leslie Nii Addo, Samuel Adogley and Isaac Mintah Asiedu.
In the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles, Ghana’s number one Racheal Quarcoo will team up with Jennifer Eduam to fight for medals.
For the Men’s Doubles, Ghana will present two pairings: Abdul-Samad Ahmad / Leslie Nii Addo and Samuel Adogley / Isaac Mintah Asiedu.
In the Mixed Doubles, Ofori-Acheampong Brempong will partner Racheal Quarcoo, while Leslie Nii Addo will pair Jennifer Eduam.
Team Ghana will be hoping to build on their recent form at the Badminton Grand Slam hosted in Ghana and challenge for ranking points and medals against some of the world’s best.
