Kumasi Asante Kotoko have officially kicked off their preparations for the 2026/27 season, with the entire first-team squad undergoing mandatory medical examinations this week.

The club began the preseason process with comprehensive health and fitness checks as technical handlers look to ascertain the condition of all players before active training starts later this month.
The medicals are part of Kotoko’s internal directive and also meet Ghana Football Association requirements that all Premier League players must pass medical tests ahead of the new season.
For Kotoko, the early work comes with added pressure. The Porcupine Warriors are yet to win the Ghana Premier League trophy in their last 4 seasons, and management is keen to ensure the squad is in peak shape from day one.
Club officials say the medical exercise will help the technical team identify any fitness concerns early, manage player workloads, and build a solid foundation ahead of a demanding campaign.

Active preseason training is expected to commence later this month, with Kotoko also expected to announce friendly matches and potential new signings in the coming weeks.
The GPL’s most decorated club will be hoping this year’s early preparations translate into silverware, as they chase a first league title since the 2021/22 season.
