Nations FC wrote their name into Ghanaian football history on Saturday, beating Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties to lift the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Abrankese-based side had been forced to 1-1 after 120 minutes of tense football but kept their composure from the spot to claim the trophy just weeks after dropping out of the Ghana Premier League.

Joseph Effah gave Nations FC the lead in the 31st minute with a calm finish. Dreams FC responded on the stroke of halftime through Abdul Razak Salifu, who levelled the game.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the second half and extra time, but defences held firm. With the score locked at 1-1, the final went to penalties.
Nations FC showed nerves of steel, converting all five spot-kicks to secure a 5-4 shootout victory and their first-ever MTN FA Cup title.
The win is historic for more than one reason. Nations FC became the first club in 34 years to win the FA Cup after suffering Premier League relegation. The last team to do it was Voradep in 1992, when they edged Neoplan Stars 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
The triumph caps a remarkable cup run for Nations FC and ranks among the most memorable MTN FA Cup campaigns in recent history.
They will now represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
