In a bid to strengthen national sports development, Ghana Athletics (G.A.) and the International Schools Sports Association of Ghana (ISSAG) have formed a strategic partnership. The collaboration, which was formalised on Friday, January 17, 2024, aims to create a comprehensive sports program that contributes to the growth of athletics in Ghana.
ISSAG, which has been operating its athletics program for over a decade, created the event to cater to its students. By partnering with Ghana Athletics, the organisation seeks to expand its reach and create more opportunities for students to engage in sports.
The partnership will enable the standardisation of events, introducing equipment, officials, and venues that meet international standards. This collaboration will also help to expand the national talent pool, providing opportunities for students who may otherwise only engage in sports for recreational purposes.
Representatives from both organisations attended the meeting, including Kenaz Bortieh Mensah (Faith Montessori School)—ISSAG Secretary; Kenneth Amedume (The Roman Ridge School)—Technical Director; Michael Oduro (SOS)—Executive Member; and Catherine Tukpe (GIS)—Executive Member. Also in attendance were Bawah Fuseini, President of Ghana Athletics, Mr. Ahmed Baffoe, Ag’ CEO Ghana Athletics and Yaw Boakye Yiadom, Administrator/Head of GA Secretariat.
Both organisations are dedicated to cooperating to accomplish their objectives, and this alliance represents a major advancement in the promotion of athletics in Ghana.
