Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have announced the departure of Head Coach Eric Tinkler with immediate effect.
In an official statement released on 28th September, 2026, by order of the Board and signed by the Secretary to the Board, A. K. Osei-Owusu, Esq., the club confirmed that the Board of Directors has agreed to the request of the South African tactician to be released from his contract for personal reasons.
According to the statement, both parties engaged in meaningful negotiations to avert the decision at this stage of the relationship but ultimately had to respect Coach Tinkler’s decision.
The club stressed that professionalism, unwavering commitment and total focus are crucial to achieve the key performance indicators it has set to meet its present objectives.
“The Club is grateful to Coach Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment to the success of the club during his rather short stint with the Porcupine Warriors and wishes him well in his next endeavours,” the statement read.
In the interim, the club remains focused on its sporting objectives, with the Technical Team poised to proceed with the club’s strategies under the leadership of the Director of Football, Mr Stanley Purl Menzo.
Coach Eric Tinkler joined Kotoko earlier this year, becoming one of the high-profile appointments ahead of the 2025/26 season.
