Ghana’s Norbert Amefu has been elected as an Executive Member of the Africa Kabaddi Confederation (AKC), the continental governing body for Kabaddi in Africa.
Amefu will serve on the Executive Board for the 2026-2030 mandate.
His election was confirmed in a congratulatory letter from the AKC dated 23rd September, 2026.
The letter, referenced AKC/2026/2312-03, described his election as well-deserved and a reflection of the confidence placed in his leadership, experience, commitment and dedication to the development of Kabaddi.
“Your election reflects the confidence in your leadership, experience, commitment and dedication to the development of Kabaddi. It also carries an important responsibility to contribute to the strengthening of our continental organisation and to the advancement of our National Federations, athletes, coaches, referees and officials across Africa,” the Confederation stated.
The AKC said the new Bureau will be guided by the vision: “ONE AFRICA, ONE KABADDI” – calling for unity, solidarity, integrity and shared responsibility to drive the sustainable development of the sport across the continent.
In his new capacity, Amefu is expected to play a key role in strengthening sound financial management, transparency and good governance within the Confederation, while supporting the implementation of its priorities for the sustainable development of Kabaddi.
The Confederation, headquartered in Shubra El Kheima, Egypt, expressed confidence that through close cooperation among members of the Bureau, it can establish a strong, transparent and effective continental structure.
Amefu’s election marks another milestone for Ghana Kabaddi on the continental stage and positions Ghana strategically in the decision-making body of the sport in Africa.
