The Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee (RMPC) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) yesterday held a Consultative Engagement and Endorsement Forum with Ghanaian media on the ambitious nationwide Constituency Games initiative.

The forum, chaired by RMPC Chairman Mr. Samson Deen, brought together editors, sports journalists and senior media representatives to discuss the rollout of the games.

He was joined by Co-Chairman Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, who is also the Director General of the NSA, and three other members of the committee: Alhaji Idrisu Mutawakilu Ahmed, member of the Select Committee on Sports, Mavis Ekua Enyamah Kwainoe and Hajia Zenabu Sulemana.

According to the committee, the Constituency Games is likely to commence from October 2026 to March 2027, targeting the youth age bracket of 15-35 years, with a total youth population of approximately 13 million across Ghana.

The maiden edition will feature football (male & female), athletics (track events) and Para sports.

Mr. Samson Deen emphasized that the Constituency Games is not just another competition on the calendar but a “community-owned national talent discovery movement.”

“It is designed to take structured sporting opportunities to every constituency and community in Ghana,” he explained.

Under the structure, athletes will be identified at the constituency level, progress through regional competitions and then into national elite development programs. Local communities will own the initiative, with the NSA supervising and Regional Coordinating Councils coordinating activities.

Mr. Deen made a passionate appeal to the media to play a leading role in the project.

“The media is not merely observers but as indispensable development partners, we want you to be with us when the journey begins,” he told journalists.

He stressed that beyond medals, the games aim to promote national unity, healthy living, community participation and create a transparent pathway for talent discovery from grassroots to the international stage.

The briefing also highlighted growing corporate support for the initiative, including recent donations, with other foreign embassies reportedly ready to bring their support on board.

NSA boss and Co-Chairman of RMPC, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, urged the media to support the games, describing it as non-partisan.

Above all, the RMPC called on all media houses to support public education, community mobilisation and grassroots talent discovery to ensure broad national ownership of the Constituency Games.
