“Keep Praying For Us”: Jordan Ayew’s Plea to Ghanaians Ahead of World Cup Battle

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has urged Ghanaians to keep the team in their prayers as Ghana braces for a tough group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a send-off event in Alexandria, Virginia before the squad departed for Rhode Island, Ayew said the team is fired up to represent the nation against Panama, England and Croatia in Group L.

“We have three massive games ahead of us, and we want to make you guys proud. We want to make Ghana proud,” the captain said.

Ayew, who plays for Crystal Palace, admitted the group won’t be easy but said the team can succeed with support from home.

“Obviously, it’s not going to be easy, but with your prayers and your support, hopefully we’ll be successful,” he added.

This will be Ayew’s third World Cup as Black Stars captain. The former Swansea City forward said the players understand what is at stake back home.

“We want to thank everyone for your support and keep on praying for us because we’re here to make history,” he said.

The Black Stars have wrapped up their training camp in Washington and arrived in Providence, Rhode Island to put final touches on preparations. Ghana kicks off its campaign against Panama in Toronto on Tuesday, June 17, before facing England and Croatia.
