The Director of the National Sports College, Winneba, Bawah Fuseini, has announced plans to establish a satellite campus in Gambia to offer sports management and administration courses to Gambian sports professionals.
This decision follows a successful four-day sports management and administration certificate course held at the college, which attracted 85 participants from various professions, including foreigners from Gambia and Nigeria.

According to Mr. Fuseini, a Gambian participant who attended the previous edition of the course approached him with a suggestion to open a satellite campus in Gambia. Mr. Fuseini explained,
“The previous edition, there was one particular gentleman who came all the way from Gambia to participate in the course. He was so overwhelmed by what he learned, the knowledge that he gained from Ghana. So, he suggested that if we could open up or do a satellite campus in Gambia.”

Mr. Fuseini expressed his enthusiasm for the proposal, stating, “For me, it speaks volumes, speaks louder for what we have been doing in the college here. So, it means our reach has gone beyond Ghana. It’s now going to West Africa.” He added, “We’ve assured him that we will work with him through the ministry so that we can go there and establish a campus.”
The college plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Gambian authorities, pending approval from the Ministry of Sports. Mr. Fuseini said, “Now, we have to do the MOU with them, but I need to write to the ministry first. Because it’s outside Ghana’s jurisdiction, I need to write to the ministry and to the minister asking permission and telling him the importance of such a program.”
Mr. Fuseini noted that the Gambian Sports Minister, Olympic Committee, and many sports professionals in Gambia have expressed interest in the course. He said, “According to him, his sports minister is interested. The Olympic Committee in Gambia is interested. And a lot of people in Gambia are interested in attending such a course.”
The satellite campus in Gambia will allow the National Sports College to broaden its scope and deliver top-notch sports management and administration programs to a wider audience.
