Accra Hearts of Oak have officially named Serbian coach Nebojsa Kapor as their new Head Coach, with the Phobians handing him a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Ghanaian giants confirmed the appointment in an official statement on Saturday, describing it as the start of “a new era” after what the club called an extensive recruitment process.
“The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC announces the appointment of Mr. Nebojsa Kapor as Head Coach, following an extensive recruitment process to restore the Club to domestic and continental prominence. The contract is for a 2-year period,” the club said.
Kapor is no stranger to the Ghana Premier League. The experienced tactician has previously handled Tema Youth, Bechem United and Medeama SC, and Hearts say that local knowledge was key in his appointment.
The club believes his style — built on discipline, attacking football and youth development — fits the long-term project they are trying to build at Pobiman.
“Known for building competitive, attacking teams grounded in discipline and youth development, his approach aligns closely with the Board’s long-term vision for the Club,” the statement added.
Hearts also hinted that more changes are coming to the technical setup before the season starts, as the club prepares to challenge for major honours both locally and in Africa.
“The Board is confident Coach Kapor has the leadership and technical competence to lead Hearts of Oak into a new era of stability and success,” the club concluded.
“We ask the Phobian family to rally behind him and the technical team as we work together to restore this great Club to its rightful place at the summit of Ghanaian and African football.”
Kapor becomes the latest foreign coach to take charge of Hearts, as the 21-time league champions look to end a trophy drought and return to the CAF competitions.
