In a rare show of unity between Ghana’s fiercest rivals, Asante Kotoko SC Executive Board Chairman, Mr. James Osei Brown, has paid a courtesy visit to the Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV.
The meeting, which took place at the Hearts of Oak boardroom, marked the first formal introduction between the two leaders since Mr. Osei Brown assumed his role at Kotoko.
Beyond the handshakes and pleasantries, the discussions focused on building a strategic off-the-field partnership aimed at mutual growth, strengthening Ghana football, and creating sustainable value for both clubs.
According to a statement from Kotoko, the two chairmen agreed that while the rivalry on the pitch will remain fierce and competitive, there is a shared responsibility to collaborate on initiatives that will benefit the clubs and the broader Ghana football ecosystem.
Key areas discussed included commercial growth, fan engagement, youth development, and improving the overall product and image of the Ghana Premier League.
“This visit is about putting Ghana football first,” a source close to the meeting noted. “The idea is that when Kotoko and Hearts are strong off the pitch, the entire league benefits.”
The Porcupine Warriors and the Phobians have dominated Ghanaian football for decades, and their matches remain the biggest fixture in the country. This latest engagement signals a new chapter where competition and cooperation can exist side by side.
