Nii Otoo Larkyne Emerges as Africa’s Best Armwrestling Referee for 2024

Ghana’s Armwrestling referee, Nii Otoo Larkyne, has been recognized as the best referee in Africa for 2024. The prestigious award was presented during the 14th Africa Armwrestling Championships in Abuja, Nigeria.

Larkyne’s impressive 2024 record played a significant role in his recognition. He officiated a total of 128 games across three major international competitions, including the 13th African Games in Accra (48 games), the World Armwrestling Championships in Moldova (54 games), and the Friday Night Armwrestling Championship in Teshie, Accra (26 games).

In an exclusive interview with Obu Sports, Larkyne expressed his excitement and gratitude upon winning the award.

“This recognition is truly an honor, and I am deeply appreciative of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa for this acknowledgment,” he said. “To be recognized among so many talented and dedicated officials is a privilege.”

Larkyne credited his success to the collective effort and sportsmanship of everyone involved in the sport.

“This award isn’t just for me; it reflects the collective effort and sportsmanship of everyone involved in our sport,” he said.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to the athletes, whose passion and dedication inspire me to uphold the highest standards of fairness and integrity.”

Larkyne also expressed his gratitude to the president of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, and the entire team for their constant encouragement and belief in his abilities. He also thanked his family and the Ghana Immigration Service for their support.

Larkyne reaffirmed his commitment to serving the sport of armwrestling with passion, integrity, and fairness.

“I am committed to continuing to serve the sport of Armwrestling with passion, integrity, and fairness,” he said.
