On Thursday, August 14, 2025, MTN Ghana announced a landmark partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) worth $2 million over a period of two years.

The partnership makes MTN Ghana the headline sponsor for all four national teams: the Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Satellites, and Black Starlets, as well as the Under 19 Elite Championship.

The contract, which runs from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2027, is a testament to MTN Ghana’s commitment to supporting the development of football in Ghana. Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the MTN House in Ridge, Accra, the CEO of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, expressed his excitement about the partnership.

“This is more than a sponsorship,” he said. “It’s about national pride, youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and building a sustainable future for football in this country. We believe that every Ghanaian player deserves the opportunity to shine, and we’re committed to giving our national teams the resources, preparation, and exposure they need to succeed.”

Blewett also emphasized MTN Ghana’s dream of seeing Ghana win the World Cup. “With unity, preparation, and the belief of 33 million Ghanaians, we can change the narrative,” he said.

GFA President, Kurt E.S. Okraku, praised MTN Ghana for their continued support of Ghanaian football. “Since the 2010-2011 football season, MTN has stuck with the FA, believed in the FA leadership, and believed in the vision of offering opportunities to the youth of our country,” he said.

Okraku highlighted the significance of the partnership, noting that it’s not just about the Black Stars, but also about the Black Queens, Black Satellites, and Black Starlets. “MTN Ghana is committed to investing in our today and our collective future,” he added.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Wilhemina Asamoah, who represented the Minister of Sports and Recreation, commended MTN Ghana for their support of football and encouraged other corporate bodies to follow suit.

“Ghana is undergoing comprehensive reforms to position the country as a hub for continental trade, business, tourism, and education,” she said. “The Ministry of Sport and Recreation is pursuing initiatives to promote corporate partnerships with sport, and we urge all stakeholders to work together to develop our sports industry.”

The partnership is expected to have a significant impact on the development of football in Ghana, and both parties are looking forward to working together to achieve their goals.
