The Husna Federation Ghana has held a high-level engagement with Chief Ibrahim Boarebon, Knkapuuya Naa of the Digari Traditional Area, as part of efforts to expand the federation’s leadership and deepen its impact across West Africa.
The meeting was led by Master Mohammed Mahadi, Founder and Funder of the World Husna Federation, following a recommendation by youth from the Digari Traditional Area who are members of Husna Federation Ghana.
The youth proposed that Chief Ibrahim be considered for appointment as Chairman and President of the West Africa Husna Federation in recognition of his exemplary leadership and contribution to the development of his people.
During the meeting, Master Mahadi outlined the vision and objectives of the Husna Federation, emphasizing its commitment to using Husna sports as a tool for promoting peace, discouraging violence, strengthening youth development, and preserving cultural heritage.
“The federation seeks to promote a renewed appreciation of culture, heritage and humanity while encouraging young people to recognize their purpose and responsibility in society,” Master Mahadi said.
He further stressed the need for Ghana and Africa to take a leading role in sports development by not only participating in sports introduced from outside the continent, but also by developing, promoting, and showcasing indigenous and innovative sporting disciplines to the international community.
According to him, the development of Husna sports could create new opportunities for young people, particularly in the Upper East Region, to receive training and pursue careers as athletes, coaches and sports professionals. He added that the initiative could also contribute to youth employment and engagement while supporting efforts to enhance peace and security along Ghana’s eastern corridor.
In his response, Chief Ibrahim Boarebon expressed appreciation and honour at being considered for such an important responsibility.
He accepted the proposed role and pledged to work diligently with the federation to advance its objectives and promote the development of Husna sports across the region and West Africa.
The leadership of the Husna Federation expressed appreciation to the Chief for accepting the responsibility and indicated that members and representatives from various West African countries would be informed of the development.
The federation further announced that a formal swearing-in and inauguration ceremony for the new leadership is expected to be held in Bolgatanga in the coming months, bringing together representatives and members of the Husna Federation from across West Africa.
The proposed leadership development marks another step in the federation’s efforts to use sports, culture and youth development as instruments for peace, unity, employment creation and social development in Ghana and across West Africa.
