The Ghana Football Association has announced a major technical restructuring with former Black Stars Team Manager, Ameenu Shardow, appointed as Head of its Strategic Diaspora Programme.
The appointment, announced on Sunday, September 21, 2026, forms part of the GFA’s new strategic drive to strengthen engagement with Ghanaian players and football stakeholders abroad.
In his new capacity, Shardow will no longer handle the day-to-day team management of the Black Stars. Instead, he will lead the Association’s efforts in identifying, engaging and building relationships with Ghanaian players born or raised abroad, and fostering stronger collaboration with diaspora clubs, academies and communities.
He will work closely with the Technical Directorate, Ghana Missions abroad, parents of Ghanaian players abroad, scouts, and the National Teams Department.
The initiative is intended to provide a more coordinated approach to identifying diaspora-born players and supporting their seamless transition into Ghana’s national teams, from the youth levels to the senior Black Stars.
His experience in team management and player relations is expected to be instrumental as the GFA seeks to streamline its approach to talent identification.
The GFA has confirmed that a new Team Manager for the Black Stars will be announced soon.
Shardow, who has served as Black Stars Team Manager since 2021 and is a former General Manager of Dreams FC, is seen as well-suited for the role due to his strong background in administration and player relations.
