Asante Kotoko SC goalkeeper Mohamed Camara has been hit with a five-match ban and a GHS 20,000 fine after being found guilty of assaulting a match official, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has announced.

The sanctions follow Camara’s misconduct after Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League fixture against Karela United FC in the 2025/2026 season.
According to the GFA’s regulatory update, the player was found guilty of “unsporting behaviour towards the match referee, in that he assaulted the referee after the game.”
The five-match suspension takes immediate effect, ruling Camara out of Kotoko’s next five league games. The GHS 20,000 fine must be paid within fourteen days of notification of the decision.
The Disciplinary Committee also issued a formal warning to the goalkeeper. “Mohamed Camara has further been warned that any future misconduct will attract more severe sanctions,” the GFA stated.
The decision forms part of the GFA’s regulatory actions for the 2025/2026 season as it moves to clamp down on violence and abuse directed at match officials.
Neither Asante Kotoko SC nor the player has publicly responded to the ruling at the time of publication.
