The Ghana Table Tennis fraternity is celebrating a major milestone as one of its brightest talents, James Marfo from Koforidua, has secured a prestigious nine-month elite training stint at the Hennebont Ping-Pong Centre in France.

The Hennebont Ping-Pong Centre is a renowned training camp that helps table tennis athletes improve their skills and technical abilities.
Top table tennis athletes including Wang Xin of China, Muiz Adegoke of Nigeria, Mateo Boheas of France and Siddhesh Sawant of India have all trained at the Hennebont Centre.
“This milestone comes after almost six years of dedication, sacrifice and unwavering resilience. James has proven himself to be a true fighter, fighting for the sport through difficult moments without ever giving up,” his manager, Mr. Michael Danquah, told reporters.

“In the world of table tennis, only a few countries offer the highest level of professional training. China and France are currently leading at the top. This opportunity will allow him to tap into their world-class system, learn from the best, and build upon the skills he already possesses.”
“He will be away for an initial period of nine months. This is a long-term project with no limits to how far he can go. We pray for long life and good health, and by the grace of God, he will have the opportunity to return there again after this period,” he added.
Mr. Danquah extended his sincere gratitude to the Executive Members for their tremendous work, particularly to the President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Mr. Mawuko Afadzanu, for his exceptional leadership. He also expressed special appreciation to the people of Koforidua for their unwavering support.
Speaking at his departure, an emotional James Marfo said:
“I went through some struggles and I thank God I didn’t give up. I am so grateful for this opportunity to go to France to become who I want to be in future. I know many great players have passed through the club I am going to. I want to thank my manager who has been like a brother to me, our GTTA President, Mr. Mawuko Afadzanu and my family for their immense support.”
