Ghana’s Golden Shuttlers wrapped up their campaign at the 2026 All Africa U-19 Badminton Championships in Cairo, Egypt, with an impressive haul of four medals, including silver in the Women’s Doubles.

The Ghanaian team began strongly in the Mixed Team Relay event, qualifying for the semi-finals and securing their first medal of the championship with bronze.
They carried that momentum into the individual events, where the Golden Shuttlers recorded five quarter-final appearances before progressing to four semi-finals across the Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles categories.
The Mixed Doubles pairing went on to claim bronze, adding another medal to Ghana’s tally, while the Women’s Doubles team produced the side’s best individual performance by reaching the final.
In the Women’s Doubles final, the Ghanaian pair made a bright start, winning the opening game against their opponents from Mauritius. However, they were unable to maintain the advantage, losing the second and third games to eventually settle for silver.
Despite falling short of gold, the silver medal represented the highest individual medal won by the Golden Shuttlers at the championship and contributed to Ghana’s overall haul of four medals.
Reflecting on the tournament after the medal ceremony, Golden Shuttlers team member Alana Faith Sullo said the team had given its best in the pursuit of gold and was grateful for the opportunity to compete.
“The championship wasn’t easy, especially because we were fighting for gold. We tried our best and did everything we could, but this year, it wasn’t ours. We thank God for giving us the strength throughout the tournament, and we are grateful for what we have been able to achieve.
“I would also like to say thank you to everyone for your support and prayers throughout this tournament. I want to thank our coaches, our parents, our friends and our followers for their support, and above all, I want to thank God for seeing us through this tournament,” she said.
The championship also brought individual recognition for members of the Ghanaian delegation, with Moslena, Obampoba, Obeng and Racheal receiving souvenirs from the organisers in recognition of their participation and efforts at the competition.
The Golden Shuttlers’ four-medal haul marks a notable outing for Ghana at the 2026 All Africa U-19 Badminton Championships, with the team returning home from Cairo having gained valuable international experience and medals across both team and individual events.
