Accra Hearts of Oak Clarifies Contractual Status of Player Hamza Issah in Official Statement

Accra, Ghana – Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC released an official statement on 18 February 2026 addressing recent speculation surrounding the contractual status of its player, Hamza Issah.

The club affirmed that Mr. Hamza Issah remains bound by a valid and legally enforceable employment contract with Accra Hearts of Oak.

In the statement, the management denied claims that the club has defaulted on financial obligations that could justify the unilateral termination of the contract under FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.

The club disclosed that it engaged in good-faith correspondence with the player’s representatives on two separate occasions to address and resolve all outstanding concerns, emphasizing that no competent judicial, regulatory, or arbitral body—including the Ghana Football Association’s Player Status Committee (GFA-PSC) or FIFA—has issued any ruling or confirmation that the contract has been lawfully terminated.

Hearts of Oak strongly condemned the unauthorized public circulation of confidential correspondence by the player’s representatives, labeling the act as unprofessional and inconsistent with ethical football administration standards.

Additionally, the club expressed alarm over Siwele Football Club of South Africa’s involvement, noting that the South African club invited the player and arranged travel without obtaining consent from Hearts of Oak, constituting player inducement and unlawful interference with an existing contract, a violation of FIFA regulations.

In response, Accra Hearts of Oak has filed formal complaints against ProSports International and Siwele Football Club with FIFA and other relevant authorities, pursuing legal and regulatory actions to protect the club’s integrity and contractual sanctity in football.

The club reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and regulatory compliance, urging supporters and stakeholders to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding the matter.
