The World Bowls hierarchy, led by President Brett O. Riley, arrived in Ghana on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Kotoka International Airport.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, and the President of Ghana Bowls, Mr. Charles Amofa.
The purpose of the visit is to launch Ghana’s Bowls on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The four-member delegation from World Bowls includes:
- Brett O. Riley – President, World Bowls
- Sue Beatt – Chairperson of Scottish Sports Association & Executive Board Member of World Bowls
- James Owen – President, World Para Bowls
- David Hamer – President, Bowls South Africa
Mr. Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah expressed his delight at welcoming the high-powered delegation from World Bowls.

“Very, very happy, very delighted to welcome the president of World Bowls President and his team. Very high powered delegation. So you see how powerful, how important, how significant this visit to Ghana is. It’s a milestone, it’s a new beginning and I’m just delighted and thrilled.”
World Bowls President Brett O. Riley expressed his excitement about the potential for bowls in Ghana.

“It’s great to be here in Ghana. We’re so excited about the potential for bowls in Ghana as a sport for people of all ages, as a sport for people of all abilities. We know that Ghana produces some great sports people.”
Mr. Riley also revealed that his favorite boxer of all time is Ghana’s Azuma Nelson.

“Azuma Nelson is one of my favourite boxers of all time and we look forward to Ghana competing in the Commonwealth Games in bowls next year.”
The World Bowls President expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of Ghana’s Bowls.
“With all of the work that we’re going to do here, we’ve got a great team. So we’re really looking forward to the next few days in Ghana, looking forward to capitalizing on all of the energy that’s been created by the Director General and his team. And I’d particularly like to acknowledge Charles Amofa, who came all the way to Scotland to meet with us earlier in the year.”
