The over 30 participants at the ongoing Ghana Athletics Basic Coaching Course in Winneba are eagerly anticipating the second day of the program. Following a successful first day, the coaches are poised to explore critical topics that will enhance their skills and knowledge.
The Ghana Athletics Basic Coaching Course is an essential initiative aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of coaches and propelling them to the World Athletics level 1 course.
On the second day, facilitator Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, will delve into three vital areas: Sports Management, Talent Identification, and Growth and Development. These topics are crucial in modern athletics coaching, enabling coaches to create effective training programs, identify and nurture young talent, and foster the overall growth of athletes.
Talent Identification is a key aspect of coaching, allowing coaches to recognize and develop the potential of young athletes. By learning how to identify talent, coaches can provide targeted training and guidance, helping athletes reach their full potential.
“Talent identification is very key, and it’s the most important aspect of coaching,” said Mariama Musah, a participant at the course. “I’m looking forward to learning more about it today. The first day ended well for me, and I learned a lot. I think today’s topics are going to be very interesting and educative.”
The ongoing 5-Day program, organized by the Ghana Athletics Association in collaboration with the National Sports College, commenced on Monday, November 25, 2024. The course has brought together coaches from across the country, all seeking to improve their skills and contribute to the development of athletics in Ghana.
