The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club on Sunday, 5 July 2026, toured the club’s state-of-the-art technical centre at Kpobiman as preparations ramp up for the new season and the launch of a restructured academy system.

The visit was to assess the facility’s current state, identify areas needing urgent attention before players return for pre-season, and review progress on the Hearts Africa Football Academy project.

Once fully operational, the Hearts Africa Football Academy will become the permanent home for Hearts of Oak’s youth teams. The club’s Under-19, Under-17 and Under-15 sides will all be housed at Kpobiman under an integrated model designed to create a seamless pathway from academy to first team.

The structure will make Hearts one of the first Premier League clubs in Ghana to run a comprehensive residential academy.

The Kpobiman complex already boasts world-class amenities, including:

  • 108-bed dormitory for academy players
  • Residential bungalows for key technical staff including the Sporting Director and Head Coach
  • Modern gymnasium, swimming pool, golf course, tennis court, padel court and basketball court
  • Mini stadium, two natural grass training pitches and one artificial turf pitch with floodlights

Beyond football, Kpobiman is also set to serve as the club’s new administrative headquarters. The current administration based at the Commercial Centre will relocate as part of the vision to create a fully integrated sporting and operational hub.

Speaking during the inspection, Executive Board Chairman and Majority Shareholder Togbe Afede XIV described the academy as a project every Hearts supporter should be proud of.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress but stressed the need for a strong maintenance culture to protect the facility’s long-term value. He urged Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah and management to ensure the complex is kept in top condition.

Togbe Afede also confirmed work will continue on the remaining phases, which include:

  • Construction of an on-site hotel
  • Completion of the event centre
  • Finishing works on sporting courts and the mini stadium
  • Dressing rooms for the training pitches
  • Other ancillary infrastructure to complete the complex

“Once completed, the facility will stand as one of the finest football development centres in Ghana and provide the ideal environment for nurturing the next generation of Hearts of Oak players,” he said.

Board members present included Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Akwesi Agyemang, Vincent Sowah Odotei, Samuel Inkoom, Alhaji Hussein Sulemana, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, and Julius Ben Emunah.

The Board expressed confidence that completing the current phase, alongside the new academy structure, will lay the foundation for sustainable player development and strengthen Hearts of Oak’s long-term ambitions.
