Erling Haaland scored twice late on to stun Brazil 2-1 and send Norway into the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

The Manchester City striker broke the deadlock in the 79th minute, rising above Arsenal defender Gabriel to power a header past Alisson. He then sealed it minutes later with a stunning low drive from distance that flew into the corner and left the five-time world champions reeling.

Neymar, making only his second appearance of the tournament off the bench, pulled one back with a late penalty, but it proved too little, too late. Brazil’s frustration was compounded earlier when Orjan Nyland saved a spot-kick from Bruno Guimaraes.
Haaland’s brace takes him to seven goals at the tournament, putting him level with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at the top of the Golden Boot standings.
Norway will now face the winner of England vs Mexico in the last eight.
