Ghana’s national Armwrestling team, the Golden Arms, has reason to celebrate as their captain, Edward Yamoah Asamoah, has been nominated for the prestigious Puller of the Year – Male award at the 49th SWAG Awards.
Asamoah, who is also a member of the Ghana Immigration Service, has had an impressive year, leading his team to a historic 41-medal haul at the 13th African Games. He personally won two gold medals in the process, showcasing his exceptional strength and skill.
Asamoah’s winning streak continued at the Armwrestling Friday Night Championship in Teshie, where he took home the gold medal in the men’s heavyweight division.
Reacting to his nomination, Asamoah expressed his gratitude and excitement. “I want to thank God, my family, friends, and the Ghana Immigration Service for their support throughout my career. I never expected to be nominated, but this recognition of my hard work is a great motivator. I’m very happy and excited to be nominated, and this will encourage me to train and work even harder.”
The 49th SWAG Awards will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 6 pm at the Accra International Conference Center.
