The Royal Ladies hockey team, also known as GRA, has secured a nomination for the prestigious 49th SWAG Awards in the Female Club of the Year category. This recognition comes after their outstanding performance as reigning champions of the Africa Cup for Club Champions and winners of the 2024 Sapholda Hockey League.
The team showcased dominance in the league, winning 8 matches, drawing 2, and remaining undefeated after 10 matches. Their stellar performance has earned them a spot alongside the Hasacaas Ladies football team in the category.
Additionally, the team’s captain, Elizabeth Opoku, has been nominated for Hockey Player of the Year. Under her leadership, the Royal Ladies not only excelled domestically but also internationally, with Elizabeth captaining the Ghana Hockey Team to a gold medal victory at the 13th African Games.
The SWAG Awards organisers have recognised these remarkable achievements, cementing the Royal Ladies’ place as a formidable force in women’s sports.
