Greater Accra Technical Institutes Clash in Thrilling Super Zonal Games

The Greater Accra Technical Institute Sports Association (GATISA) recently hosted a thrilling Super Zonal Games, showcasing the talents of students from various schools across the region. The event featured seven disciplines, including athletics, badminton, basketball, football, handball, table tennis, and volleyball, with several schools emerging victorious in their respective categories.

The games took place from Tuesday, August 6, 2024, to Friday, August 9, 2024, at the El Wak Sports Stadium.

The primary objective of the games was to identify and showcase the most promising emerging talents, who would subsequently represent Greater Accra in the prestigious Inter-Regional Games in Cape Coast. The event drew an impressive participation of over twenty schools from various parts of the region, fostering a competitive and dynamic atmosphere.

All the schools showcased their talents across all disciplines, but Bedeku Technical Institute from Ada proved too good in football and handball. They won both the boys’ and girls’ categories in football, as well as both the boys’ and girls’ categories in handball.

The table tennis tournament saw a showcase of precision and strategy as South Labone Technical Institute’s girls’ team served up a winning performance, while Tema Technical Institute’s boys’ team countered with a dominant display of skill, highlighting the exciting talent in technical institute sports.

The basketball courts witnessed a display of skill and determination as New Century Technical Institute emerged victorious in the girls’ division, while Sacred Heart countered with a winning performance in the boys’ division, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown in the world of technical institute sports.

The volleyball court was abuzz with excitement as Ada Technical Institute spiked their way to victory in the girls’ category, while Prampram Technical Institute blocked their opponents to claim the top spot in the boys’ division, making for a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.

The Tema Technical Institute made an impressive sweep in the badminton category, claiming top honours in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions, showcasing their dominance in the sport.

Ashaiman Technical Institute excelled in the girls’ athletics division, securing four gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals. Similarly, Tema Technical Institute dominated the boys’ division, winning four gold medals, five silver medals, and one bronze medal.
