Black Stars survive CAR late scare, win 4-3

The Black Stars of Ghana played their fourth game in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The game looked to be one of the toughest matches the Black Stars have played at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, ending 4-3 in Ghana’s favor.

Ghana was awarded an early penalty in the fourth minute after Fatawu Issahaku was fouled in the box.

Jordan Ayew stepped forward to convert it. Central African Republic got the equalizer through Louis Mafouta after receiving a long pass from the defense played by Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Mafouta doubled the lead for Central African Republic after weaving through Ghana’s defense to take the lead in the first half.

Jordan Ayew got his second on the day to level the score, making it 2-2 for Ghana after receiving a brilliant cross from Gideon Mensah. Ghana scored their third goal two minutes later through a deflected shot from Fatawu Issahaku in the 62nd minute.

Jordan Ayew completed his hattrick on the day in the 69th minute, giving Ghana some breathing room and making it 4-2.

Louis Mafouta of the Central African Republic also completed his hattrick with an excellent free kick in the 90th minute, putting pressure on the Black Stars, but the Central African Republic’s effort was not enough.

“Comoros tops Group I with 9 points, closely followed by Ghana with 9 points. The upcoming matches are scheduled to take place between 17th and 25th March, 2025, with Ghana hosting Chad and facing Madagascar away.
