President of the Ghana Football Association and 2nd Vice-President of CAF, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has paid a morale-boosting visit to the Black Princesses in Poland ahead of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup opener against Ecuador.
The GFA President joined the team at their base on Thursday, September 3, 2026, where he held a meeting with the players and technical team led by Head Coach Charles Sampson.
In his address, Mr. Okraku assured the team of the full support of the Ghana Football Association and the entire nation, and challenged them to rewrite history by qualifying from the group stage for the first time in the competition’s history.
He stressed that a positive start in their opening fixture is crucial to the team’s ambition.
“A few days ago, I was in a chat with the head coach and I promised that I was going to join him for what I think is the most important game for us, which is the first game,” he said.
“For me, the first game is the most important, because if we start well, chances are that we will do well. History tells us that this team has always been here. This time, we must go beyond participation. You have the quality to make history for Ghana,” President Simeon-Okraku stated.
Ghana is in Group C alongside Ecuador, Korea Republic and France. The Black Princesses will face Ecuador in their opening match on Sunday.
The GFA President also commended the technical team for their hard work during preparations and urged the players to stay disciplined, united and focused on the task ahead.He was accompanied by officials from the Ghana Football Association and Ghana’s delegation in Poland.
