The Accra Basketball League (ABL), in collaboration with the Ghana Basketball Association (GABBA), held a Pre-Technical Competition meeting on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Midindi Hotel in Accra. The meeting aimed to finalize technical and operational arrangements for the upcoming season.

Key discussions included the formation of the League Club Association and Players Club Association, team registrations, competition format, and rules of play.
Dr. Eric Opoku Antwi, Chairman of ABL, emphasized the league’s focus on fair play, competition, and visibility.”We want to showcase basketball at its best and attract corporate sponsors to grow the game,” he said.

The league plans to use Borteman as a major venue to ensure standard courts and visibility.
Ghana Basketball Association President Alex Kukula praised the turnout, saying, “This is a great sign of cooperation and willingness to grow the game.” He added that ABL is Africa’s biggest league, and with the right support, it can reach new heights.


The league aims to produce talent for the national team and international competitions.
