Hohoe United FC has formally notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of its decision to withdraw from the remainder of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season, effective immediately. The club’s owner, Tom Amewu-Duglu, announced the withdrawal in a letter dated April 1, 2026, addressed to the GFA General Secretary.

The decision was made due to “systemic unfairness and apparent bias” exhibited towards the club in disciplinary processes. This bias led to a three-match home ban currently being enforced against Hohoe United FC.
In the letter, Hohoe United FC thanked the GFA for past opportunities and wished the league well. The withdrawal is described as a “principled stand against injustice” and does not signify the end of the club.
The move has sparked interest in the Ghanaian football community, with implications for the ongoing Premier League season.
