Ghana Cricket Association Hosts Media Interaction for T20 World Cup Qualifier

The Ghana Cricket Association hosted a media interaction with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and team officials at the Achimota Cricket Oval, building excitement for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier B.

The tournament, featuring Ghana, Tanzania, Eswatini, Malawi, St. Helena, and Seychelles, will see six teams compete in a round-robin format from March 24-29, 2026. The top two teams will qualify for the Regional Qualifier, a crucial step towards securing a spot in the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

LOC Chairman Nii Okai Evans-Anfom emphasized the importance of hosting a successful tournament, saying, “We’re aiming for a memorable tournament that promotes tourism and African friendship.”

GCA President Emmanuel O. Asare expressed confidence in Ghana’s readiness, stating, “We’ve gathered resources for the team to start training, and we’re hoping to give our best shot.”

Head Coach Rajinder Parsad highlighted the team’s preparations, saying, “Preparations are going on according to modern cricket standards. This tournament is very important for us, and we’re hoping to do our best.”

Captain Obed Harvey echoed the sentiment, “We’ve been preparing for a long time, and we’re ready. We’re looking forward to using the facilities to our advantage and getting support from Ghanaian fans.”

The tournament kicks off on March 24, 2026, with teams arriving on March 22 and a practice day on March 23.
