The National Sports College in Winneba is undergoing significant renovations, with the latest developments including re-grassing the turf, upgrading hostels, and improving washrooms.

According to Technical Director Emmanuel Appiah, the football pitch is expected to be ready by December 2025.
“We all know Director Bawah had a serious plan of reconstructing the pitch,” Appiah explained.

“The pitch is a standard one, so we took off the old grass and did a refilling with sand and loamy soil. We’ve leveled everything, and now we’re working on the next stage, which involves leveling the soil and planting the grass.”

Appiah added, “The ladies are currently planting the grass, which is not easy to get. We’re leveling the ground, and hopefully, by Thursday, we’ll finish planting the grass. We’ll water it constantly and maintain it to ensure it’s ready for use. By December, we can have a football match on it – that’s what we’re hoping for.”

The college’s management has outlined a one-year plan to restore the institution to its former glory.
“For the next one year, we want to try our best to bring back the college to its olden days,” Appiah said.

“We’ve started with the pitch, and we’re working on the tennis court, 60-room hostel, and organizing various courses, including sports management and administration.

In one year’s time, we should see something different here.”
The renovation works aim to provide a world-class sports facility for athletes and sports enthusiasts.
