As Ghana prepares to head to the polls on Saturday, December 7, 2024, the Ghana Cycling Federation is urging all eligible voters within the cycling fraternity to exercise their civic duty safely.
According to the Federation’s General Secretary, Shaban Mohammed, the safety of cyclists is of utmost importance. “I will encourage everyone to go and cast their vote and stay calm, peace is key,” Mohammed said. “Anyone who wins is our president, so we have discussed this to them on our platform.”
Mohammed emphasized that the Federation has been promoting a culture of safety and responsibility among its members, particularly in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. “On our platform, since we targeted LA2028, it has made all the cycling fraternity on our platform take care of themselves, nobody wants to get hurt,” he explained.
The Federation is advising cyclists to vote, return home, and wait for the election results without engaging in any post-election celebrations that may compromise their safety. “We have told them to accept anyone who will be announced as the country’s president,” Mohammed added.
