Selorm Fayise, a professional Taekwondo coach, has successfully completed the 5-day Basic Athletics coaching course organised by the Ghana Athletics Association in collaboration with the National Sports College, Winneba.
The course, which took place from November 25 to 29, 2024, provided Feyise with a comprehensive understanding of athletics coaching principles, including talent identification, injury prevention, coaching effectiveness, and psychology.
According to Fayise, his decision to participate in the course was driven by his passion for continuous learning and self-improvement. “As a professional coach, I believe in educating myself to become a better coach. I want to produce world-class and Olympic athletes, and I know that acquiring new knowledge and skills is essential to achieving this goal.”
Fayise noted that despite being a Taekwondo coach, the principles of coaching and talent identification are universal and can be applied across various sporting disciplines. “The knowledge gained from this course will be vital for my sport, and I’m excited to apply it to my coaching practice.”
When asked about his future plans, Feyise expressed his enthusiasm for continuing his coaching education. “I will definitely enroll in the Level 1 coaching course next year. As a coach, I always want to learn more and improve my skills.”
