Accra to Host 4th Africa Women in Sports Elective Congress

The capital city of Ghana, Accra, is set to host the 4th Africa Women in Sports Elective Congress from November 7th to 10th, 2024, at the M-Plaza Hotel. The Congress, themed “To Ensure Empowerment and Gender Equity through Participation in the Change of Africa We Want to See,” aims to drive progress in gender equity and women’s empowerment across Africa’s sports sector.

The prestigious event will be attended by key figures, including the President of the African Women in Sports Association, Madam Sheila Desha, and Vice President, Madam Carol Garoes. Linked with the African Union (AU), the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport, the Congress strengthens collaboration with global organisations in promoting women’s participation in sports.

Mrs. Joyce Mahama, President of the Women in Sports Association of Ghana, expressed her delight that Ghana has been selected to host the 4th Africa Women in Sports Elective Congress.

Over 70 countries and representatives from the AU are expected to attend, reinforcing Ghana’s role as a hub for promoting gender equality and sports development across Africa.
