Tebel and the Ghana Badminton Association celebrated World Badminton Day on Friday, July 5th, 2024, by donating to the students of West Africa Senior High School in Adenta, Accra, Ghana.
The president of Ghana Badminton Association, Yeboah Evans, addressed the gathering on the occasion of World Badminton Day.
“It is the celebration of World Badminton Day. This occasion presents a unique opportunity every year on our Badminton World calendar, which provides us with a platform for awareness creation and exhibition of the sport in schools, showcasing how the sport is envisioned”.
President Yeboah explained the reasons why the Ghana Badminton Association donated badminton equipment to the students of West Africa Senior High School, commemorating World Badminton Day.
“Today at West African Senior High School, we also donated sporting equipment to the students board and stuff. This will help them prepare for the sport and be able to build up to what they intend to do for the sport”.
“As we know, over the past few years, West African Senior High School has been promoting the sport of badminton, right up to some of the athletes being selected for the national team to participate in national events like the Commonwealth Games and the recent African Games”.
“We believe that once we help them with their system, they can be able to project the sport in creation awareness and also build up a career education for the students. So, this is why today we were here to celebrate the sport and also to donate to them sporting equipment, which we have done so they can be able to continue developing the sport and creating awareness where they find themselves.”.
He also gave us the update on their calendar, particularly for the international championships.
“Going forward in the year, in the month of August, we are participating in our Africa Under-19 championship in Senegal. We also envision and have been programmed to be in England for the Yonex All England senior series, which is based on a qualifying series so the athletes can build up their points.”.
“We have also qualified for the World Junior Cup, which is happening in China. Based on our success last year in the USA.”
