Ghanaian dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has claimed that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation owes him about GH¢5 million for promotional work done for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shatta Wale made the claim in an interview with Serwaa Amihere on GHOne TV on Friday, August 28, 2026.

According to the award-winning musician, he and his team used their platforms and influence to promote the Black Stars and rally public support for Ghana’s World Cup campaign, but they are yet to be paid.

He alleged that efforts to retrieve the money have been frustrating, claiming that both the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, and the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, have refused to pick up his calls.

It is worth noting that Shatta Wale has been a major supporter of the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup campaign. At a fundraising event held at the Kempinski Hotel, he pledged $100,000 towards the campaign, which is separate from the promotional debt he is now claiming.
