Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has named a 25-player provisional squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco as Ghana targets a deep run at the tournament. The squad blends experience and emerging talent, with players drawn from top leagues around the world and the domestic Ghana Women’s Premier League.
Captain Portia Boakye headlines the list and will be expected to lead from the back. She is joined by several established internationals who are set to play key roles: Grace Asantewaa, Princess Marfo, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Stella Nyamekye, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Princella Adubea. The inclusion of the group gives the Queens a strong core with experience at both club and international level.
Björkegren also rewarded form in the local league with call-ups for Cynthia Konlan Fiindib of FC Samartex Ladies, Osman Huzeima of Jonina Ladies, and Ajegipina Zakaria of Ampem Darkoa Ladies. The coach said the mix was deliberate to ensure depth and competition as Ghana prepares for Morocco.
Ghana have been drawn in Group D and will play all three group games at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca:
- July 29: Ghana vs Cape Verde
- August 2: Ghana vs Cameroon
- August 6: Ghana vs Mali
Armed with a balanced squad and facing a tough group, Björkegren’s Queens are out to go further than before and announce themselves at WAFCON 2026.
