Jonathan Nkrumah Ofori of Central Region narrowly edged Blessed Junior Owusu of Ashanti Region to take top honors in the U20 Boys’ 400m final at the 1st National Athletics Open Championships 2026. Ofori’s winning time of 45.33 seconds was just 0.27 seconds ahead of Owusu’s 45.60, in a race that showcased the duo’s impressive speed and endurance.

The pair put on a show in Cape Coast, with Ofori controlling the race from the backstretch and Owusu pushing hard to the finish. Their performances were among the highlights of the meet, bighting a promising future for Ghana’s 400m programme.

Opoku Godfred (Ashanti Region) rounded out the podium with 45.62 seconds. The top three athletes’ times underscore the growing depth of quarter-mile talent in Ghana’s junior ranks.
