The Ghana Chess Association (GCA) has announced its new executive team following the 2026 elective congress held on 21st February, 2026. The elected officials will steer the association for the next four years.
Christiana Naa Merley Ashley was elected President, while Angela Amerley Ayiku (WFM) became Vice President, Administration. Other key positions include Clinton Fomevor (CM) as Vice President, Technical; Maxwell Kporxah as General Secretary; and Benjamin Mills–Pappoe as Financial Secretary.
The Executive Council thanked members for their commitment and active participation in the elections. They also commended the Electoral Committee (EC) for organizing a smooth electoral process that strengthened the association’s democratic foundations.
The GCA congratulated all election candidates for their spirited competition, noting that healthy rivalry is vital for institutional growth and advancing chess in Ghana. The association also thanked the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) for their support and guidance during the elections.
President Christiana Ashley emphasized the need for unity, mutual respect, and collective responsibility to build a stronger, inclusive chess community for present and future generations.
