Manchester City is set to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi this month, with a deal in principle agreed for the England centre-back. The 25-year-old, who has been linked with top European clubs, is out of contract in the summer and was previously close to joining Liverpool.
City’s interest in Guehi was sparked by injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, and talks have accelerated in the past 24 hours.
Guehi is expected to join City on a long-term contract, with personal terms yet to be formally agreed. The move would be City’s second major signing this window, following Antoine Semenyo’s £62.5m transfer from Bournemouth. Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed Guehi won’t play against Sunderland on Saturday, stating the deal is in its “final stages”.
Guehi, who captained Palace to their first major trophy in the FA Cup final against City, has been a key player for England since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021.
