The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has inaugurated a 10-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 24th Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Seniors’ Championships, scheduled for May 10-17, 2026, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The LOC members are:
- Farihan Alhassan (MD, Ghana Commercial Bank) – Chairman
- Bawah Fuseini (Ghana Athletics) – Member
- Veronica Commey (NSA) – Member
- Nathan Kwabena Anokye-Adisi (C.E.O, EIB) – Member
- Nii Okyene Adjei (C.E.O, Thermenergy) – Member
- Wilhelmina Asamoah (Chief Director, MoSR) – Member
- Hon. Betty Krobby Mensah (Coordinator National Recreation, MoSR) – Member
- Col. Tetteh (National Security) – Member
- Godwin Arko Guun – Member
- Falilatou Tchanile (International Representative) – Member
In his address, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams emphasized the significance of hosting the championships: “We are privileged to host the African Seniors Athletics Championship… You have a responsibility to plan effectively for over a thousand athletes.”

The Ghana Athletics President, Mr. Bawah Fuseini, promised a successful event: “On behalf of the LOC, we thank the minister and ministry for their support… We are going to deliver one of the best African championships in history.”

The event is expected to attract top athletes and dignitaries, including World Athletics President Lord Coe.
