Ghana’s Wrestling Team Excels at West African Championships in Benin

Ghana’s wrestling team has returned home with two medals and a trophy from the just-ended West African Wrestling Championships (seniors and juniors) held in Ouidah, Benin.

The championships, which took place from November 29 to 30, 2025, saw Ghana’s heavyweight wrestler, Fuseini Issah, win gold in the freestyle wrestling category and a bronze medal in Beach Wrestling.

Team Ghana was crowned third in the Freestyle Wrestling category and was awarded a third-place trophy. The team consisted of three athletes: Alberta Tetteh (50kg), Princess Setordzi (53kg), and Fuseini Issah (125kg), accompanied by coaches Henry Hadaba and Twumasi Addo.

The delegation was led by the President of the Ghana Wrestling Federation, Mr. Norbert Amefu.
