Harry Kane scored twice in the second half as England beat Albania to complete a flawless World Cup qualifying campaign with eight wins from eight.
The Three Lions, already confirmed as group winners, made seven changes to the side that beat Serbia at Wembley on Thursday, with Thomas Tuchel opting for a tactical approach that saw John Stones step into midfield when England were in possession.
Kane, who took his personal tally to 78 international goals, broke the deadlock in the 74th minute, bundling the ball in from close range after Bukayo Saka’s corner. He then headed in Marcus Rashford’s excellent cross eight minutes later.
Despite not producing a vintage performance, England created chances to take the lead, with Jude Bellingham, Jarrod Bowen, and Saka all going close. Albania, unbeaten in their previous eight matches, had a good chance to take the lead, but Arber Hoxha shot straight at Dean Henderson.
The win marks a historic achievement for England, who become the first European side to play at least six qualifiers and win them all without conceding.
