Appiah-Kubi Confident in Ghana’s Team Preparations for CAA Championship

The head coach of the National U-18/U-20 Athletics team, Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi, has expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and mental readiness for the upcoming Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) competition.

The championship is set to kick off on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Nigeria.

The CAA Championship would witness 44 countries from the continent, fight for continental glories and honours. The event also serves as platform to promote individual talents.

According to the head coach, the athletes are fit and ready to deliver. “We’ve already psyched them mentally so we’re waiting to see their best tomorrow.

“He emphasized the importance of allowing the young athletes to enjoy running without too much pressure, noting that

“We don’t want to put pressure on these athletes.”They are young athletes and they have to enjoy running.”

Appiah-Kubi added that “Let them enjoy themselves. That’s the main thing, to come and enjoy and do their best.” He stressed.

The coach attributed the team’s high morale to their enthusiasm, stating that “When the morale is high, then you see the enthusiasm of these athletes and how they did it.”

He expressed his hopes for the team’s performance, praying that “these athletes put up their best. That’s all that we want from our athletes. To run and have a good personal best.”

Briefing on the technical meeting that transpired ahead of the commencement, Appiah-Kubi mentioned that the technical meeting covered the rules and procedures of the competition, and that the team is ready to participate.
