Oguaa Celebrates Independence Day with Beach Rugby Tournament

The Oguaa Independence Day GIR Beach Rugby KIVO Tournament was a resounding success, bringing together six teams and 75 participants to celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day while promoting grassroots rugby development.

The tournament, held on Ghana’s Independence Day, featured four male teams and two female teams, showcasing the growth of rugby in the local communities. The event provided an excellent platform for experienced and new players to showcase their skills, foster teamwork, and encourage female participation in the sport.

The competition was fierce, with the Oguaa Warriors emerging as champions in the male category and the Dennis Ladies taking the top spot in the female category. The tournament also highlighted the emergence of new talents, with 30 new players participating in the event.

The presence of two female teams marked significant progress in promoting women’s rugby, encouraging further inclusivity and gender equality in the sport. The tournament also attracted local spectators, fostering community spirit and support for rugby as a recreational and competitive sport.

The success of the tournament has set the foundation for the continued growth of beach rugby in Oguaa. Organizers recommend increased training opportunities, expansion of female teams, sponsorship, and regular competitions to sustain and expand the tournament in future editions.
