The GRA Royal Ladies hockey team presented the Hockey Africa Cup for Club Championship to the Acting Commissioner-General, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Head Office on Thursday, February 20.

The team’s triumph in Egypt earned them the prestigious trophy, and the Commissioner-General congratulated the team on their achievement. He promised each player a GH¢10,000.00 winning bonus, while technical team members would receive GH¢12,000.00.
Head Coach Ida Marmon-Halm expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishment, saying, “We worked hard for this, so it wasn’t a surprise. We knew we were going to do this.” She emphasized the need for better equipment to develop hockey in Ghana, stating, “Hockey equipment is very expensive, and we need to make it more accessible.”

Vivian Narkuor, the tournament’s top scorer and best player of the tournament, attributed her success to her teammates’ support. “It’s by the grace of God and the motivation of my players. Adizatu Suleman, in particular, always encourages me to score at least two goals per match.”

Narkuor believes that hard work and dedication are key to achieving success. “Training is the secret. You must be focused and train hard. Take constructive criticism from colleagues and others in good faith, and use it to improve your game.”
The GRA Royal Ladies are excited to build on their triumph, which represents a major turning point for Ghanaian hockey.
