In a recent interview on GTV Sports+ Special’s “Year in Review” for 2024, Norbert Amefu, President of the Ghana Wrestling Federation, shared his expectations for the future of Wrestling in Ghana under the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) sports administration.

Amefu expressed confidence in the new government’s commitment to sports development, citing their potential to build upon the progress made by the current administration. He praised outgoing Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif for his willingness to support athletes, despite limited resources. “He’s one of the ministers who will not turn you away empty-handed,” Amefu noted.

Looking ahead to 2025, Amefu hinted at an exciting year for the Ghana Wrestling Federation. “They should expect the board to be doing a lot next year,” he said, revealing that a packed program lineup will be unveiled on December 31, 2024. “There’s a lot coming, and they should be ready for it.”

As the Ghana Wrestling Federation prepares for a busy year, Amefu’s optimism is a promising sign for the sport’s future in Ghana. With a new administration poised to take the reins, the wrestling community is eager to see how the federation’s plans unfold.
